So Now, We're Comet Stuff!

The Rosetta space probe has reached a comet named 67P/Churyumov-Gerasimenko ("Chury") after ten years of travel. The science world is abuzz. Could this be what everyone is waiting for? One scientist calls it a “treasure trove.” The Rosetta probe will test the comet and find the origins of life and how stars are formed.

You see, now scientists have come up with a new way that life got to earth:

A comet hit it.

And, the comet brought water and dust and gases to the earth. From that first little bit of water, came life. And, life evolved to become us.

Within a couple of minutes’ time, two CNN presenters said, “So, we’re comet stuff.” (Obviously, that’s the new spin for the day.*)

Comet stuff indeed!

Genesis 1:2 tells us there was water on the earth before the six days of creation began: And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters.

Then, Genesis 1 chronicles the creation of light, the atmosphere, dry land, plants, the moon, sun, stars, fish, sea creatures, birds, land animals, and man.

Want to know how stars were formed? And God said, Let there be lights in the firmament of the heaven to divide the day from the night; and let them be for signs, and for seasons, and for days, and years: And let them be for lights in the firmament of the heaven to give light upon the earth: and it was so. And God made two great lights; the greater light to rule the day, and the lesser light to rule the night: he made the stars also. And God set them in the firmament of the heaven to give light upon the earth, And to rule over the day and over the night, and to divide the light from the darkness: and God saw that it was good (Genesis 1:14-18).

On the fourth day, just after plants were made, God put the lights in the skies. If anyone really wants to know what happened, it’s written down, in black and white, in the best-selling Book of all time. We already know!

How was man made? He was a separate, deliberate creation: And the LORD God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul (Genesis 2:7). And the LORD God caused a deep sleep to fall upon Adam, and he slept: and he took one of his ribs, and closed up the flesh instead thereof; And the rib, which the LORD God had taken from man, made he a woman, and brought her unto the man (Genesis 2:21-22).

Did people evolve from the pond of water, brought to earth by a comet?

No! They were made on the sixth day of creation. They were made with a purpose. Read these words from God Himself: And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth. So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them. And God blessed them, and God said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it: and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth. And God said, Behold, I have given you every herb bearing seed, which is upon the face of all the earth, and every tree, in the which is the fruit of a tree yielding seed; to you it shall be for meat. And to every beast of the earth, and to every fowl of the air, and to every thing that creepeth upon the earth, wherein there is life, I have given every green herb for meat: and it was so. And God saw every thing that he had made, and, behold, it was very good. And the evening and the morning were the sixth day (Genesis 1:26-31).

Man was made in God’s image—both Adam and Eve. There was no difference in their value before God. They were given dominion (rule) over all the earth, to manage it and take care of it. Their food was provided. They had a purpose and a job from the beginning.

People did not evolve from one-celled organisms, crawling out of primordial slime.

People were created as a direct act of God: Adam from dust, and Eve from Adam’s rib. People were made in the image of God. Since God is a Spirit (John 4:24), we are beings with a spirit as well. This differentiates humans from the other forms of life. We are not merely dogs or pigs. We are people. We have value, because we have souls. We got our souls from God.

Is this so difficult?

Apparently so, since the newest theory is that we might be “comet stuff.”

Why can we not accept that a Loving, Eternal, God designed the earth and everything in it, crowned His creation with the first man and woman, and gave them souls?

I do. (I will go on record; I believe God did it.)

So, when smart people tell me that I am the result of mutations of comet dust and water, I reject that theory, because God told me what really happened at the beginning of time.
